Weather in Rwanda
Rwanda’s relatively high altitude gives it a pleasantly mild tropical highland climate, though with ample rainfall.
Temperatures vary significantly between regions based on altitude but remain consistent month to month in the same location. In the capital, Kigali, the average daily temperature hovers around 22°C.
October is a short rainy season in Kigali, offering a 50% chance for visitors to experience the onset of the rains.

Getting Around Kigali
Taxis and moto-taxis are the city’s most common and convenient forms of transport, with ride-hailing apps widely available for easy access. Public buses operate across the city, providing an affordable and reliable option.
For those who prefer a more active mode of transport, bicycle rentals allow visitors to explore the city on two wheels at their own pace.
Money transaction
The official currency is the Rwandan Franc (RWF). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in most hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers across the city.

Cash can be accessed from the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) with local debit cards as well as with any international credit cards. ATMs can be accessed at various points around the city.
Currency Exchange: Foreign currency can be exchanged at banks and authorized forex bureaus. US dollars, euros, and British pounds are commonly accepted for exchange.

Mobile phone SIM cards are widely available and will need to be registered for activation on presentation of an identification document (ID card or passport). The SIM card can be registered at the point of purchase.
Environmental Protection & Plastic bags ban
As part of an environmental protection policy, plastic bags are not allowed into Rwanda. Passengers entering Kigali International Airport (KIA), or any other border posts with plastic bags are required to discard them. They will be supplied with an environmentally friendly alternative at a cost.
Rwanda also promotes green initiatives like the monthly clean-up day, Umuganda, held on the last Saturday of every month, where communities come together to clean public spaces. Visitors are welcome to participate.

Regularly coming at the top of global reports on safety and security, Rwanda is renowned as one of the safest countries in the world.
The World Economic Forum Report 2017 ranked Rwanda as the safest country in Africa and 9th safest in the world, with Gallup’s 2018 Global Law and Order Report placing Rwanda in 5th place in its global ranking and 1st in Africa.
